Tutorly.sg Review: Is It Worth It for My Kids?
As a mom of three, ensuring that my kids stay on top of their studies has always been a priority. While their school’s IB curriculum is well-rounded, I wanted to make sure Will wasn’t falling behind the rigorous Singapore syllabus – just in case, we were to move back across the border to Singapore.
That’s when I came across tutorly.sg, an online learning platform that gives access to all subjects, all levels, from Primary 1 to JC2, under one subscription. And we can access them all from the comfort of our own home.
We’ve been trying it out for a month, and here’s my honest review.
Why We Chose tutorly.sg
The idea of a single platform covering math, science, languages, and more was appealing, especially since I could use it for all three kids. I also liked that it provided quizzes and tests, allowing me to gauge their progress in different subjects. It gave me peace of mind knowing that Lauren and Georgia were performing well, while also helping Will develop independent learning habits—a skill that’s invaluable as he grows.
Comprehensive Features of tutorly.sg
1. Unlimited Quizzes for Every Subject and Topic + Access to Past Year Exam Papers:
Tutorly’s AI-powered system generates endless quizzes tailored to each child’s needs. This ensures that Will, Lauren, and Georgia can practice as much as they need to master any topic. I don’t need to spend extra on buying past exam papers – a range of past year exam papers from top schools are available on Tutorly.sg!
2. Study Notes & Summaries on Demand
Instead of spending time creating study notes, my children can request concise summaries for any topic. This feature is perfect for quick revisions or grasping new concepts efficiently.
3. 24/7 AI-Powered Tutoring
This is an important feature for a family with multiple children like us, because Lauren, Georgia and Will are involved in various ECAs. And that means that their free time after-school varies. With Tutorly available around the clock, this provides immediate assistance whenever my children have questions, whether it’s early in the morning or late at night.
4. Alignment with the MOE Syllabus:
Tutorly covers all subjects from Primary 1 to JC2, fully aligned with Singapore’s Ministry of Education syllabus. This ensures that my children are studying relevant material that complements their school curriculum.
5. Progress Tracking:
As a parent, I can monitor how many questions each child has asked per subject and level, giving me insights into their engagement and areas that might need more attention.
Our Experience with tutorly.sg
Pros:
- Independent Learning Encouraged
Will, being his cheeky self, occasionally types in random questions just to see what answers he gets. Surprisingly, Tutorly always provides a structured, informative response. It’s fascinating to see how he’s exploring beyond the curriculum!
- Comprehensive Subject Coverage
With access to all subjects, there’s no need to subscribe to multiple tuition services. Everything is in one place, making it an affordable alternative to traditional tuition.
- Flexibility & Convenience
Unlike physical tuition, we don’t have to worry about traveling to and from a center. The kids can learn anytime, anywhere, which is a big plus for a busy family like ours.
- Progress Tracking with Tests & Quizzes
The built-in assessments are great for checking whether my kids truly understand the material. As a parent, this feature reassures me that they’re keeping up with their learning goals.
- Cost-Effective
At SG49 per month or SGD468 per year, Tutorly is a fraction of what parents usually would have to cough up for traditional tuition, which can be significantly more expensive. So this is one HUGE plus for us!
- Flexible Learning Pace
My children can learn at their own speed, revisiting topics as needed without the pressure of keeping up with a class. So this is great especially if your child is either a fast learner who gets bored easily (that’s Will!) or needs more time to grasp certain concepts before moving to another subject.
Cons:
- Self-Discipline is Required
Since Tutorly is available anytime, learning isn’t structured like a scheduled tuition class. This means I need to actively plan the children’s study time and ensure they are looking up the right topics.
- Lack of Personalised Guidance
Unlike a private tutor, there’s no real-time coaching. While the AI provides excellent explanations, younger kids might still need parental guidance for certain topics.
- Engagement & Motivation
While Will enjoys testing out different questions, there are moments when he loses interest. It would be great if Tutorly had more interactive elements like gamified lessons or rewards to keep kids engaged for longer.
Final Thoughts: Is Tutorly.sg Worth It?
Absolutely! It’s a fantastic supplementary learning tool, especially for parents who want an affordable and convenient way to track their kids’ progress. While it doesn’t replace a structured tuition class or a private tutor, it provides excellent educational support at a fraction of the cost.
If you’re considering an online learning platform that covers all subjects, all levels, Tutorly.sg is definitely worth trying.
Have you used tutorly.sg for your kids? I’d love to hear your thoughts!
