Perfect for family: Amaya Food Gallery @ Amari Watergate Bangkok

TRAVEL

It’s been months since our last trip to Bangkok and I’ve been missing the food! More specifically, the food at Amaya Food Gallery! I believe if you’ve ever stayed at Amari Bangkok, you’ve probably eaten there because that’s where they have the amazing breakfast buffet spread in the morning for the hotel guests.

best buffet in bangkok

But what you may or may not know is that they serve an even more delectable selection of international and Thai cuisine during lunch. Yes, Thailand is all about the street food but as a mother with three young children, braving the crowd at street sides, markets or even the shopping mall food court is a little too much for me to handle. Tried that, and may not do it again soon, now that I’ve discovered Amaya’s lunchtime buffet.

Who loves Thai salads? Take as much as you like from the Thai cuisine station.

You could also order Phad Thai and noodle soups to order from here.

And of course, a whole host of Thai dishes and curries to choose from.

Tom yum soup is a given in Thailand but if you want something different, they also have two more soup options. If you are a fan of fish maw and bamboo shoots, you’ll love this. Oriental soup selections vary from day to day but there are always three options to pick from.

Besides Thai, you can find Indian, Italian, fresh produce/salads/cheese and a grill stations at Amaya Food Gallery. You have to check out their cheese station, because erm…. cheese. Lots of cheese. ‘Nuff said.

I went a little later at around 1:30 pm and that’s why the fresh seafood wasn’t filled to the brim. It’s fresh nonetheless!

Fresh sashimi because why not?

If you’re a meat lover, you’ll love the variety of BBQ meats and stews available at the Grill Station.

I never had lamb this way, but this dish had me going back for more. The meat was tender, without the strong “lamby” taste.

Pizza is one of my kids’ favourite food and I’m beyond happy to find that they have a woodfire oven in the restaurant. Pizza from scratch!

This girl couldn’t be happier about getting her own plate and filling it up with anything which tickles her fancy.

My second course of the meal came from the Indian station. The naan, vindaloo and palak paneer were done to perfection.

And finally… the desserts! I’ll always have room for desserts.

Besides cakes, pudding, tarts and a massive M&M’s jar for the kids to eat to their hearts’ content, there’s also a station where you can make your own DIY Thai Ice Kacang.

And yes, the kids’ favourite part of the buffet – the ICE CREAM!

There’s quite a selection for those who are gluten-intolerant too!

All in all, I find dining at the natural light-filled Amaya Food Gallery very pleasant. I can get the best of all cuisines, especially Thai street food in the comfort of a spacious, air-conditioned and hygienic setting. It’s a perfect dining destination for families with young children. You are sure to find something for everyone!

Don’t be fooled by the look on the kids’ face. We were very satisfied customers who left a few kilos heavier. We will be back, hopefully soon!
