Save Money and Gain Peace of Mind with Aviva Motor Prestige
No mum ever wants to deal with car problems and the thought of being stranded on the side of the road or getting into an accident when my kids are in the car gives me the shudders.
When it comes to cars, you can only control so much. I always make sure my car seats are up-to-date and installed correctly, and I like to think that I’m a conscientious driver. Nick thinks otherwise, but hey, I know I’m careful.
Another thing that I can control that makes a BIG difference in our family’s day to day safety is car insurance. The right insurance can be the difference between waiting hours when you’re having car problems, to getting help right away. I’m always thinking about the safety of my children, so insurance is extremely important to me and having enough coverage just isn’t optional.
Lucky for me (and you), I came across Aviva Singapore’s new car insurance plan. Aviva’s plan is available in three tiers, I love this because I get to choose how much or little coverage I want, and you know I’m all about flexible options.
The Plan is available in Lite, Standard, and Prestige – I chose the Motor Prestige plan. Why? Let me explain.
Aviva Motor Prestige Plan
eCall Service
What sold me on the Prestige Plan is the complimentary emergency call, or eCall service. What is it, you ask?
It comprises two key components:
- eCall plug: A smart sensor device designed for crash detection and analysis of driving behaviour. The device fits easily into the 12V outlet of any car.
- “Aviva eCall Assistance” smartphone app: This enables automated accident reporting; to be connected to the eCall plug via Bluetooth using your mobile phone.
It provides rapid assistance during emergencies automatically – this means if something terrible happens and I’m unable to call for help, the smart device that Aviva provides will do it for me.
Here’s how it works, When you have the Prestige plan, Aviva provides you with a smart device that can detect things like impact severity, driver location, and even the direction of travel. When it detects that something has gone wrong, it informs Aviva’s helpline and your family member (or whoever else is listed as an emergency contact). This can actually save lives by enabling faster emergency response times.
So, eCall is essentially a 24/7 guardian angel. I would feel more at ease having the service for my family, but if I had children who were driving, I’d view this as an absolute necessity. The eCall service is the first of its kind for all car insurance policies in Southeast Asia and only available through Aviva.
Comprehensive Coverage
I also love the comprehensive coverage aspect of Aviva’s product. Here’s the thing, I had a friend who totalled her car not long ago, and she didn’t have comprehensive coverage. We all know the car ownership in Singapore is expensive. While my friend thankfully walked away from the accident unharmed, she didn’t get nearly as much for her car after the wreck. She needed to buy another car. Needless to say, insurance didn’t save her a ton of money that day, she had to shell out some serious cash to replace her car. Ouch.
All that to say, comprehensive coverage is something you hope you never have to rely on, but when you do, it more than pays for itself. Aviva Motor Prestige has something called brand new car replacement – they’ll replace your new(ish) car with another if repairs cost more than 70% of its market value, and if the accident happens within 24 months of purchasing your car from new. That kind of coverage would have made my friends feel far better about the accident.
Besides the usual coverage for just the driver, Aviva Motor Prestige covers the passengers and relevant third parties in road accidents. You also don’t have to worry over accidental loss, fire or theft to your car because Aviva offers coverage up to your car’s market value, COE, car accessories and audio system.
Plus you also get to bring your car to the repairer of your choice. While you’re at it, Aviva would give you $80 of daily transport allowance (up to 10 days) while your car is being repaired.
Last but not least, for those who take pride in being a careful driver (and the discounts that come with it) – only a 10% reduction of your No Claims Discount (NCD) will be made if you make a claim. A pretty big deal compared to the usual 30% in other plans. Also, your NCD will remain intact if it wasn’t your fault that the car was damaged!
It’s the small things that matter
Maybe you’ve never been in an accident and you don’t think comprehensive insurance is necessary, but you never know when an accident will happen. In the long run, it’s better for your wallet to make sure your insurance is actually covering you. Besides, you can get 5% safe driver discount if you’re earning 50% NCD and claim-free when you renew with Aviva.
So maybe it’s time for you to look at your car insurance plan like I did and really understand the coverage you have. There are many more features in the Moter Prestige plan but I shall not bore you with the details. For us, the eCall feature was enough to make the leap from our current insurance provider to Aviva.
If you want to get a quote, be sure to check out Aviva’s website, their customer service really impressed me and they answered all of my questions clearly. Now I don’t have to dread calling my car insurance provider anymore, added bonus!
You know I love to help save mums time and money, I really feel like Aviva will do that for you. More time, money, peace of mind – three things this busy mama can get behind.
