Will You Join Me at The Kidz Academy 2018?
What are you doing to celebrate Youth Day Weekend? In case you didn’t know, Youth Day weekend is from June 29th to July 1st, and I know what my family will be doing! We’ll be attending The Kidz Academy at Singapore Expo Hall.
Side note – I think I’m just as excited about this as my kids are because this event is 100% free and educational, that’s a win-win in my book.
If you haven’t heard of the Kidz Academy, it’s a sister event of SmartKids Asia and is primarily for children ages 3 to 12 years old. And when I said free, I meant free for parents, children, caregivers and educators, or anyone working with young learners – send your nanny if you’d like!
This event isn’t just a great way to get your kids out of the house, its focus is on competitions using interactive science and activities to engage children and create value in their everyday lives.
Who will be there?
There will be over 100 exhibitors at the event from industries like education, health, and child development.
Some of the first-time exhibitors that I’m most excited about include:
Chalk n Pencils – This company provides weekly art classes and holiday programs for children that are age specific.
Fortitudo – A company that provides child-centered workshops and activities to help them build self-confidence and the ability to rise to challenges, seize opportunities and accept responsibility and feedback. This is perfect for all the young aspiring entrepreneurs in your life.
Arts Kidz – A combination of literacy and numeracy, this program combines the arts and language to make these subjects fun for your child.
There are many, MANY more exhibitors who will be at the event, so be sure to check out the Kidz Academy website for the full list and descriptions.
The Best Part…The Activities!
Of course, my kids are the most excited about the activities they can be a part of during Kidz Academy 2018, and I’m happy to say that there’s something for everyone.
The activities range from prizes and giveaways to theatrical elements to an activity-based scavenger hunt.
Here are some of the activities that we’re looking forward to:
The Kidz Academy Storyland
This segment features live theatrical acts and boast performances based on some beloved Singapore legends like – The Brave Princess, The Heroic Tortoise and The Loving Sisters. Seating is limited, so registration is necessary. You can do so via this link.
The Butterfly Aviary
Who loves butterflies? You’ll love this. Butterfly Park and Insect Kingdom will be showcasing various butterfly species inside an inflatable located at Booth F01. We visited when they were in Harbourfront Centre earlier this year and let me tell you, this one is not to be missed. You’ll get to learn about the life cycle of a butterfly and have an up-close look at other insects too. Of course, you could also snap some cool photos with the butterflies for your Instagram feed! 😀
Entrance fee to the Butterfly Aviary is $12 and you can pre-purchase the tickets here, to save time from queuing up on the day.
Exciting Stage Performances
Various exhibitors across the education, arts, sports, and other segments will host activities on stage for your kids to enjoy and learn from. We will also be having Speak Up! Kids Finals and Talent Time on stage as well!
Lucky Draw Prizes
If there’s a chance I could win a prize, you’d better believe I’m there for it. All you have to do to be entered into the lucky draw is spend a minimum of $50 in up to three receipts. These drawings happen daily at 7:00pm and they’re giving away more than $10,000 in prizes.
Reserve Your Goodie Bag
There are 1,500 goodie bags that will be given away at The Kidz Academy event and if you register, you can redeem your bag at the even from 10:30am on.
Our family has already reserved our goodie bags via the online registrations, and unless you plan to be one of the first 200 people at the door, that’s what I suggest you do too.
The Kidz Academy Play Pass
This play pass is basically an interactive scavenger hunt! Every participant will make certain “pit stops” and complete an activity at each one to fill out their passport. Once your child completes their passport, they get to spin & win exclusive prizes!
Safe Cycle Programme
If you’re like me you probably have a young cyclist on your hands. Wouldn’t it be nice to have a little more peace of mind about your kids’ cycling skills before unleashing them on the world?
The Safe Cycle program will teach basic skills, road circuit simulation and will educate your kids on safe cycling. My kids are so excited to get certified as young safe cyclists by the end of the program.
Just make sure you register ahead of time, here.
See You There!
My kids are literally counting down the days until The Kidz Academy, and I’m sure yours will want to do the same, so don’t forget to mark your calendars for June 29th through July 1st at Singapore Expo Hall 6.
The festivities go from 10:30am – 8pm Friday through Sunday, so even if you’re still dealing with nap time, you should be able to come out and enjoy the event.
If you see me chasing down my kids during the scavenger hunt while trying to learn some educational parenting information for myself, be sure to stop and say hi!
