A Quick One
….of Lauren and Georgia attending a pizza making class a couple of weeks ago.
The class was held at Atmosphere Bistro & Bar at East Coast Park. I expected the class to have the kids slapping on sauces, add some sausages on a pre-made dough and call it a day. But no! This is one serious class where the kids learn to make the pizza, from scratch no less!
First, every self-respecting chef has her own chef hat. And as a kid, nothing is yours until you write your name on it. Or one straight line works for Georgia too.
Getting to know all the ingredients…
Mixing them in one by one…
Just keep kneading, just keep kneading.
After lots of kneading and tired tiny hands, it’s time to proof the dough. The kids are kept occupied by decorating their own pizza boxes.
My kids are clearly the abstract art type and Kaelynn is obviously not mine.
While the kids were busy making their own dinner, we, the parents enjoyed our lunch in semi-peace. My Galbi Sandwich which is made of Korean-style marinated Galbi beef, cheddar cheese in ciabatta bread isn’t too shabby either. It is served with mixed salad and tater tots.
Sorry, I was famished by the time we got there, so two huge bites were taken before I remember to take a photo.
Next, it’s time to roll out the dough! Heart, flower and butterfly shapes because round dough is too mainstream to today’s kids.
Daddy and assistant chef were hard at work…
Because our tiny chefs decided that they needed a break.
Choosing the toppings for the pizzas!
Just before the pizzas went in the oven. Looked alright if I must say so myself.
Ta-dah! This is Georgia’s very first pizza!
Aaand.. Lauren had to pose with hers, of course.
The kids get the opportunity to make their own pizza from scratch — from kneading the dough, shaping the pizza, choosing their toppings to finally tasting their own masterpieces in this 1.5-hour pizza making session.
If you’re interested in registering your child, there are more sessions this weekend on 17 December at Atmosphere Bistro & Bar, Alexandra Retail Centre and on 18 December from 2pm to 4pm at their East Coast Park outlet. It costs $28 nett per child (open to all age groups).
The pizza making sessions are popular, there will be more dates to come. Sign up by simply e-mailing enquiry@atmosphere-bistro.com.sg or enquire in-store.
