3rd Pregnancy Update: The Third Trimester

Third baby, third trimester. How did I even get here?

On one hand, I’m glad it’s over soon. The sound sleep I had during the second trimester is now a diiiiiistant memory. My lower back and tail bone hurts when I sit too long. It hurts when I stand. It hurts when I walk. It even hurts when I lay a certain way. So yeah, the heavy feeling is ON all the time. Also, my varicose veins are worse than ever! One day a woman stopped me on the street and asked me what was wrong with my legs. I pointed at my tummy and smiled at her. Yes woman, this is what pregnancy can do to you. Think twice before you procreate.

On the other hand, I love feeling the baby moves inside my tummy. I haven’t sung or had many monologues with baby numero tres and it’s almost time to say goodbye to this chapter of my life.

I don’t even know which fruit size he/she is now – I guess that’s the difference between first and subsequent pregnancies.

There are still lots to do before the big day. I’m about half way through my work to-do list, but I haven’t done any baby arrival prep.Firstly, I need to kick Lauren out of our room, so we can move the baby cot into our room. In order to do that, I’ve been psyching Lauren up about how fun it would be to sleep on a bunk bed and being in the same room with Georgia. I may have over-promised and in my excitement, I showed her photos like this one.

She would be sooooo disappointed.

If I’m feeling productive, I might even share the room makeover here on the blog. No promise though because ‘makeover’ could be an overstatement. Decorating is a huuuuuge undertaking for me. Huge! Because I don’t have any creative bones in my body.

Alas, we need to get rid of many things and buy some new furniture. Out with the old, in with the new. Luckily, we would get to save a bit of money using this coupon code site. They even have a home, garden and interior category.

I digress. Let’s get back to the pregnancy. I’m 59kg now, up 5kg from when we started. The baby is about 1.6kg, which is a good size at 31 weeks old. My cravings are gone and my pre-pregnancy eating habits are back. I don’t fancy main meals much. Instead, I snack throughout the day. Like non-stop grazing. And my guilty pleasure? Chocolates. And when I run out of chocolates, Milo powder straight from the can fills the void.

I had thalassemia earlier in this pregnancy. I’m not sure if it’s due to dengue, but my haemoglobin level dropped as the pregnancy progressed. I’ve been taking iron supplements and it seems to help. I had my blood tested during my last checkup and my blood count is normal again! So yay!

How are my kids taking it?

Lauren: I want a boy! Can we name it ‘pancake’?

Georgia: Baby in there? Tap tap! *Big slaps on my tummy. Ouch!*

Last but not least, Nick and I still don’t have a shortlist of names yet. Based to our track records, we leave it until the very last minute, but at least back then, we had a few names up our sleeves. This time, nothing. Na-da. So I would appreciate it if you could throw some good names into the comment box below. Boy and girl’s names are welcome!

PS: See that “Get it” button right at the top? Every 2 weeks, I’ll be sending out a newsletter. It will provide links to exclusive giveaways and secret information I’m not sharing on the blog. It will include the early announcement on courses I’m putting together right now. So please subscribe!
