My Little Georgia is 1!
Once upon a time, a little girl named Georgia turned one. Her family celebrated her birthday over a simple lunch with friends. It was held at Penang Street Restaurant, Funan Digital Mall, because her dad loves Penang food, and well, who says you can’t have assam laksa and char kway teow at a first birthday party? It is not a usual kids party venue, but since Georgia and her sister and their friends’ offsprings were mostly toddlers, her parents got away with a catered-for-adults kind of party.
All in, it took her mother about an hour to put everything together. It’s hard work. You know, having to make a call to persuade the restaurant to let them have a party there (they don’t usually do parties), made another call to Petite Bakehouse to order the cake, and typed a whole lot of Whatsapp messages as invitations.
Surprisingly, people actually turned up, had fun and enjoyed the food. They sang the birthday song for Georgia. And sang it again after Georgia’s older sister, Lauren who demanded it was her birthday too (it wasn’t) but they humoured her anyway. All was well. The family of four blew out the candle together. Everyone had some cake, commented that it was yummy and bid farewell.
Georgia and her family got home and the girls and their daddy fell asleep within minutes. The end.
