DIY Homemade Sugar Scrub
As we all know, being a mom to a toddler doesn’t leave much time for me to pamper myself anymore. Pre-baby, I enjoyed long shower with body scrubs, hair mask, followed by total body lotion/oil. Post-baby, having long shower is consider a luxury.
Speaking of body scrub, I’ve recently discovered a super easy homemade sugar scrub recipe that works far better than any store bought version. Except for maybe, Origins’ Ginger Body Scrub. I still dig that stuff but at SGD$35 a pop, I feel like I can’t use it too liberally. So a homemade version is not only more affordable (read: dirt cheap), it is also all natural and very moisturising for my dry skin. My skin doesn’t feel tight after using the scrub, and I can skip body lotion!
You could also put it in a jar, stick a cute label on, and it make a nice thoughtful gift for friends and family.
Homemade Sugar Scrub
Fill a jar of your choice with sugar. I used a clean used moisturiser jar. You can use any type of sugar but I used the raw sugar I have left sitting in the pantry since I’ve cut out sugars from my diet. Brown sugar would work well too.
Next, fill the jar with olive oil. Almond oil, coconut oil, sesame oil, or a blend of 2 oils would work too.
Add 15-20 drops of essential oil for the great scent. My favourites are lavender, ylang ylang, lemongrass and grapefruit.
Enjoy in the shower.

Ooh! Something to try this weekend. This looks and sounds awesome! I'm a huge fan of Ginger. Will experiment with mixing it in. Have you tried blending Ginger into the mix?

Hi Steph, no I haven't tried mixing ginger in it. But it is worth a try!
Woot! Been looking for a recipe like this … I'm gonna try this out, thanks for sharing!
This looks so yummy. I love making body care stuff at home and I don't do it enough. The oil blend you used sounds amazing. Almond oil smells so good to me.

Needing to pin this so I can make it. I use to use body scrub all the time and stopped, for reasons I can't remember ;). I so need to start again and this is perfect to start with!
Thanks for sharing!
Haha.. I slack off too after a while. Now I put the jar right next to the shower gel, so I can't miss it. Thanks for stopping by!

That's it? Holy moly I can make this right now. Thanks for posting and saving my dry skin. BTW-not sure how old your little one is, but I remember not being able to pee in peace without someone coming to the bathroom door to find me…lol.

Yup, too simple isn't it? And you are right again, my girl is practically glued to me. I can't go anywhere without her clinging to my ankle. I'm never alone!
