When Lauren was a newborn, I used to get a kick out of every time someone said she is cute and adorable. After a while, it wears off on me and I figured that is just something people think they should be saying, even when the baby is NOT cute. Let’s face it, most newborns look like Yoda from Star Wars.
Lauren still gets compliments from strangers today. And what supposed to be a pleasant experience has turned into my biggest pet peeve. Complete strangers on the train, on the street, and just about anywhere you can imagine (think: public toilet, the wet market) love to pinch her cheeks when they coo over her. This happened not once or twice but often enough that I had consider putting a sign on the stroller that says ‘DO NOT TOUCH HER”. I suspect her cheeks used to have rashes all the time due to dirty hands touching them.
I’m sorry if I offend anyone in this post. But think twice before you reach out to touch another’s person’s child. Ask for permission. How would you like it if I say you are pretty and start touching your face?
Oh my gosh! I hated it when complete strangers would just reach out and touch my child's face. Thanks for sharing over at Friday Flash Blog!

I honestly am in agreement with you. I don't get why people do it. When I had JR, for A WHILE every Sunday he was in the moby carrier all bundled up so people could barely even breathe on him lol. I think that is how I got around that. Then when he was just about 3 months we moved 2000 miles away. We just joined a new fellowship where I absolutely adore everyone. They don't touch him now, but he's really stand offish and will only play with people with his toys and not get too close lol. I'm expecting again and I'm hoping that this won't be a problem lol. Some people actually kiss other people's babies. I think that is weird too. Thanks for sharing this with us at Countdown in Style! Don't forget to stop by Friday to see if you have been featured 🙂

Haha.. Lauren just glare at people now, as if saying, 'Don't you dare touch me'. But that doesn't deter anyone though.
Btw, congrats on no.2! I'm expecting too 🙂

Oh my. I get lots of swoons, but no touches, thank goodness! I got a lot of tummy touching when I was pregnant, but no one has touched my kids. I agree though. I would have to say something and maybe even slap their hand away. It's an assault on my child! Thank you for opening up to us at Countdown in Style.
I feel your pain. I found your blog because I was looking for the kind of image you have in this post. I hope you don't mind me using it (I've credited it as coming from here). I live in China and I thought this was only a problem here! When my daughter was a baby, people would come swarm us and touch her. It drove me insane! Now she's 3 and some supermarket employee felt the need to come over to us, while we were being assisted by someone else, and without saying anything to me yanked my daughter's baseball cap off her head. She got an earful from me. This is the first time it's happened to us since our daughter was small. I'm due with my 2nd baby next month so I guess this is just practice to get me ready for the next swarm of people. Anyway, thanks for your blog and I hope you'll come check out mine sometime. http://abroadabroadablogablog.blogspot.com/
