How To Take Newborn Passport Photo
When Lauren was born, she was given a long-term-social-visitor status because Nick and I are both PR in Singapore. So while your parents are both granted permission to stay in the country indefinitely, you are still declared a visitor that your mom smuggled into the country with her womb. And that was why we needed to get her passport done, so we can apply for her PR status at the ICA (Immigration and Checkpoint Authority) in Singapore within a month.
Australian Embassy has rather strict rules for passport photos. Although they are quite relaxed with baby’s photo, it is not an easy task to make sure the baby look straight into the camera with her mouth closed. The above photo is shining example of how we failed.
We finally managed to snap that one good photo though. I sat on a sofa with both feet up bended at the knees. So my legs formed a 45 degrees surface to support my baby. I laid a piece of white cloth over my thighs, and placed Lauren on the white cloth. I held up the 2 corners of the cloth behind her head. This served as the white background required for the passport photo. Nick stood behind me and snapped the photo over my shoulder. All we had to do was to get Lauren’s attention, so her eyes would be looking ‘into’ the camera.
Ta-da! Here it is, my baby’s passport photo.
Please share if you have any tips on taking baby passport photo. I would love to hear them!
I think your adorable baby's picture is just fine for a passport. You did a great job. Have a great weekend.

What a sweet face! When we got our sons passport photo I had to be from a certain place. He was less than thrilled and after about 30 mins and lots of tears we got one. If they wanted eye contact, they got it. Such a beautiful baby! I'm a new follower from The Friday Follow Along Party.

Hi Kimberly, thanks for stopping by. Yes, it gets harder as they grow because they get distracted and can't sit still!
