Mother’s Day is a week away and it got me thinking. I’ll be celebrating Mother’s Day as a mom for the first time this year. My own mother had passed away for 20 years now but I still remember clearly what she has taught me.
Here is what I have learned from her:
- Never rely on another person. Be responsible for yourself.
- How to cook rice, ginger wine chicken, sliced fish soup, thunder tea rice and other chinese recipes.
- Stand up straight. It is good for one’s posture.
- If you can, take afternoon nap.
- Games like Scrabble, card games, crosswords are good for our mind.
- Stay cool and calm in every situation.
- Drinks lots of water for good complexion.
- Empathise by putting myself in others shoes.
- Always be punctual.
- Always have some money in savings.
- Trust my instinct.
- No matter what happens, we are still a family. Family is priority.

Please share what has your mom taught you. I’d love to hear their words of wisdom.
Happy Mother’s Day.
Do find out what I learnt from my dad here.
My upbringing was not the best I must admit, but I did learn many things from it, so here a few:
1. She taught me to keep a 'stiff upper lip' and deal with situations at hand
2. Never tolerate a domestic violence situation
3. Be meticulous in all you do and leave no stone unturned
4. Trust your natural instinct as it is usually right
